My New Blog

I wanted to introduce you to my new blog.  I created it for the sole purpose of helping golfers from beginner level to 15+ handicap enjoy the game more.  The title of the blog says it all.  Finding a good coach is still the best way to improve, but I realize that it is difficult to do.

So, if you don't already have someone, let me become your online coach and help you to help yourself become a better golfer and enjoy the game more.

I encourage you to subscribe to the blog so that you can leave comments and ask questions.  Your input will determine what this blog becomes and the topics I present here.  It want be totally instruction.  Some of my blogger friends will contribute articles that I am sure you will find entertaining, educational, and informative.

I am a Life Member of the PGA of America with over forty years of experience in the Golf Industry.  I have spent much of his career teaching/coaching golfers of all ability levels from tour players to beginners.  I have developed a very simple old school approach to the golf swing that I refer to as minimalist.  I only give you the minimum amount of information you need to improve.  I love technology, but only when it is useful.  I don't believe anyone needs a computer to fix a slice or a hook.  I also believe golf can be much less confusing, much easier, and more fun.

I have an insatiable curiosity and love of logic.  I was the kid most teachers didn't like because I always wanted to know why and just because they said so wasn't good enough.  This probably derives from the fact that I am a member of a group that only has about 1200 members world wide and requires an IQ in the 99th percentile for membership.

Early in his career I was fortunate enough to spend time with the great Mickey Wright, Harvey Penick, and Ben Hogan.  I have also been fortunate enough to have been associated with winners of multiple tour events and several majors.

My approach to coaching the golf swing has been primarily influenced by the legendary John Jacobs.  My philosophy is built around two statements –

“Never tell them more than they absolutely need to know” and “Anyone that can't explain the golf swing in a simple, easy to understand fashion is not an "expert".  They are just knowledgeable.”

Some of you may already know me as Sam W Adams - especially on Facebook - and Essentially Golf.
